Food and Cooking Phrasal Verbs
- eat out (eat in a restaurant). I eat out a lot because I often don’t have time to cook.
- cut down on (use or do less of it). I’m trying to cut down on coffee at the moment. I’m only having one cup at breakfast.
- cut out (to remove something from something else). The doctor told me that I should completely cut out all diary products from my diet.
Money Phrasal Verbs
- took out. I took out $100 from a cash machine.
- pay back. Can I pay you back the money you lent me next week?
- live off. I have to live off my parents while I’m at university.
- live on. It’s difficult for me and my wife to live on only one salary.
Phrasal Verbs Transport
- set off (British). I usually set off from my home at 7.30 in the morning to try to avoid the traffic/ traffic jams.
- drop up (opp drop off). I arrive at 6.00. Do you think you could drop me up at the station?
- end up (to achieve a situation after other activities). Check the address you put in your satnav or you may end up in the wrong place.
- run out (nothing left). We’re going to run out of petrol soon. Let’s stop at the nearest petrol station.
- look out/watch out (be careful). Look out! You’re going to crash!
